- Metallurgical valve primary use is to completely close off the downstream portion of a pipeline in a safe way. They are frequently found in the petrochemical, steel, pulp and paper, maritime and oil & refinery industries. They are often referred to as spectacle blinds, figures of eight, spectacle plates or paddle blinds
- Line blind valve applications
- Positive pipeline close/off is vital in many piping systems to assure safety of personnel working on downstream equipment, particularly when flammable, toxic liquids or gases could sleep past a closure. When visible proof of shut/off is necessary, a line blind is mandatory to comply with plant safety regulations. Available in three variants as cam-set, cam-slide or line blind valves (metallurgical valve)

- Line blind valve is available in sizes ranging from 1 to 48 inches (larger on request) and can be supplied in 150, 300 and 600 ASME ratings. Other sizes and pressure ratings are available on request

- Line blinds are available in carbon steel, stainless steel (316 SST) as standard. Others materials are application and request dependant
- This type is proper to a large size of pipe line. It has compact structure and very short face to face dimension. It allows one person to blind a heavy pipe line within minutes by operating a hand wheel without line spreading. As a lug type end connection, counter flanges shall be connected directly on the body of line blinds
- One turns the hand wheel and then slide the blind plate to secure the blind by hand wheel
