A stone mortar and pestle can be used for grinding dry ingredients, such as spices or nuts, and also for wet ingredients such as pestos and sauces. Because they are stone, they do not pick up any odors.   2. When you are finished using your mortar and pestle, you need only to place it in the sink and run hot water in it.   3.
